Operational Safety Training
To operate effectively in any security environment, regardless of your assignment, you must be able to control situations with confidence. Having the appropriate skills and confidence to operate at all levels is an integral part of your operational requirements, ensuring your safety and the safety of others.
Defensive Tactics
This program covers officer safety and control options, and includes conflict control, communication & negotiation, understanding stress, lawful guidelines for use of force, resistance & control, personal safety strategies, restraint & control, and lawful use of handcuffs & expandable batons. The qualification program covers the following units of competency required for licensing:
- CPPSEC2017A Protect self & others using basic defensive techniques
- CPPSEC3013A Control persons using empty hand techniques
- CPPSEC3015A Restrain persons using handcuffs
- CPPSEC3014A Control persons using baton
Annual re-qualification is required to maintain competence and currency of license.
Firearms
This program meets the requirements for obtaining a security firearms license in both revolver and semi-automatic configurations, and includes safety, law, ballistic theory, mechanical operations and rectifications, use of cover and lowlight shooting. Practical training includes extensive range practice. The qualification program covers the following unit of competency required for licensing:
- CPPSEC3008A Control security risk situations using firearms
Annual re-qualification is required to maintain competence and currency of license.
Instructor Training

- Defensive Tactics Instructor (Security) - Empty Hand Defence & Control, Handcuffs, Batons

Candidates receive a detailed briefing bulletin that outlines the course content, format and requirements for successful completion, and an application form. Security Operations
Licensing Requirements
There are specific training requirements for each security license activity - security guards (unarmed, armed, cash-in-transit, control room), crowd controllers and bodyguards – and applicants must complete training appropriate for the type of work they wish to undertake.
Dynamic Training is approved by Licensing Services Division (Victoria Police), and Skills Victoria (Department of Education), to deliver security license training, including qualification upgrades (existing license holders) and annual re-qualification training (armed guards & cash in transit).
The qualifications for security licensing are:
- CPP20207 Certificate II in Security Operations (Unarmed Guard, Crowd Control, Control Room)
- CPP30407 Certificate III in Security Operations (Armed Guard, Bodyguard, Cash-in-Transit)
Specialist Security Programs
For those wishing to develop their skills and expand career options we offer several specialty programs. These specialist short courses will equip you with the tools you need to operate effectively in a security environment, combining qualified and professional instructors with practical and relevant training.
Security Screening
This program covers the process of screening baggage and people to minimise security risks; content includes operational requirements relative to establishing a screening system and culture, electronic screening methods, physical screening of people, baggage and vehicles; it covers screening equipment, detecting prohibited or dangerous goods, inspection versus search, with the relevant legal requirements for conducting searches and confiscating property.
Loss Prevention
This program examines procedures and skills for working as a Loss Prevention Officer in retail environments; content includes observing and monitoring people, profiles of shop-stealers, creating a safe retail environment, methods of theft and lawful parameters for arrest, detainment and processing.
