Traineeships promote practical business and career development opportunities within various industry sectors. Financial incentives are available to employers who provide access to training for employees through traineeships. The training is provided with funds made available by the Government of Victoria. There are flexible training systems available, which reduce the impact on normal business activities and promote accelerated learning. Eligibility criteria apply, related to duration and employment status, and employee qualifications. Training programs consist of competency-based units that rely on the trainee’s ability to perform set tasks, resulting in nationally accredited qualifications. SIR20207 Certificate II in Retail

This qualification provides the knowledge and skill for an individual to be competent in a range of activities and functions requiring basic retail operational knowledge and limited practical skills in a defined context. Work would be undertaken in various retail store settings, such as speciality stores, supermarkets, department stores and retail fast food outlets. Individuals may work with some autonomy or in a team but usually under supervision.

SIR30207 Certificate III in Retail

This qualification provides the knowledge and skill for an individual to be competent in retail operations and/or supervision with the need to apply discretion and judgement. Work would be undertaken in various retail store settings, such as speciality stores, supermarkets, department stores and retail fast food outlets. Individuals may have some responsibility for others and provide or hold specific coordination or support responsibilities within a store team.

SIR40207 Certificate IV in Retail Management

This qualification provides the skills and knowledge for an individual to be competent in the first line management skills of those working in the retail and/or wholesale industries. It applies to those who are managing a small retail outlet, a section or department within a larger retail store, a small wholesale outlet, or a section or department within a larger wholesale business.

BSB30407 Certificate III in Business Administration

The Certificate III in Business qualification can be amended to Business Administration with the inclusion of one additional unit of competency (BSBITU307A Develop Keyboarding Speed and Accuracy) which covers the skills and knowledge required to develop keyboard skills with speed and accuracy using touch typing techniques.

BSB30107 Certificate III in Business

This qualification is for individuals who perform a variety of key administrative functions within their workplace. Workers will normally be engaged in a workplace in which they perform processes that require a range of well-developed skills where some discretion and judgement is required. They are encouraged to take responsibility for their own outputs in work and learning and take limited responsibility for the output of others. It is suitable for administrative personnel in any industry sector.

BSB40207 Certificate IV in Business

This qualification reflects the role of individuals who use well-developed skills and a broad knowledge base in a wide variety of contexts. They apply solutions to a defined range of unpredictable problems, and analyse and evaluate information from a variety of sources. They may provide leadership and guidance to others with some limited responsibility for the output of others.

BSB40607 Certificate IV in Business Sales

This qualification is for individuals in organisations where sales are among the services provided but selling is not the core business. As a result, this qualification is distinguished from sales that take place in businesses whose core business involves retailing and wholesaling. Workers with this qualification could include sales account assistants, sales agents and sales representatives.

BSB40807 Certificate IV in Frontline Management

This qualification is for individuals who take the first line of management in a wide range of organisational contexts. They may have existing qualifications and skills, yet require skills or recognition in supervisory functions. Frontline managers provide leadership and guidance to others and take responsibility for the effective performance of the team and its work outcomes. The aim is to support enterprises to raise performance by developing frontline managers, and is applicable to anyone with management responsibility.

SIT30707 Certificate III in Hospitality

This qualification provides the skills and knowledge for an individual to be competent in skilled operations with the need to apply discretion and judgement. Work would be undertaken in various hospitality settings, such as restaurants, hotels, motels, clubs, pubs, cafes and coffee shops. Individuals may have some responsibility for others and provide technical advice and team support.
